Hi there! My name is Frederico Maia, but you can call me Fred.

Traveling with my wife and sons is my favorite hobby! I'm Brazilian, born in Goiânia. I lived in Rio de Janeiro for about 3 years before moving abroad. I've lived in Ireland and Portugal, and spent 2 years as a digital nomad. Now, we're back in southern Brazil, living in Florianópolis.

I've been a programmer since 2008 and graduated in Computer Networks from FATESG. I've taught programming at Supera Tecnologia and Caelum, part of the Alura Group. I've spoken at various technology events like The Developers Conference (TDC), FLISOL, MobileConf, and several meetups. I also worked as a software engineer in Ireland, at Equifax and LeasePlan, before moving back to Brazil.

From 2022 to 2026 I led Meteor Software, the Canadian remote-first company behind Meteor.js and Galaxy. I joined as Tech Lead, became CTO, and then CEO. During that time we shipped Meteor 3, the framework's largest release, and expanded Galaxy beyond Meteor to Node.js, Python, and AdonisJS. These days I'm focused on developer tools, open source, growth, and building engineering teams.
